Actually, all platforms were broken; you just had bad luck of updating at the wrong time. Since we don't have an automatic review, this happens from time to time, unfortunately (we're all just human, although compiling before committing should have revealed this one).

In general, though, please understand that each target platform is different, and you cannot expect from a developer to compile his changes for all of those.
We do have automated builds to identifying such issues ASAP.

Unless you plan to hack on Haiku, there is little reason to compile it by yourself, though, as you can easily stay up to date using the package manager (see this article: http://www.haiku-os.org/guides/daily-tasks/updating-system).
