I can deal with the line-breaks issue no problem. Would you prefer a
pop-up a new window or an interface where you can toggle between the
editing and English original on the same page?

This is implemented now.
Sorry to be a PITA, but this solution isn't practical for every
package. It doesn't recognize line breaks and doesn't deal well with
long decriptions. See the 'apr' package [1] for an example.
Maybe going with opening a new separate window is better after all.
