It may be possible to alter HaikuDepot (HD) to feed-in the bitmap icons
where necessary. I am actually thinking about re-working the way that
the icons are transmitted from HDS to HD, but it could take some time to
achieve. How about you open a new TRAC ticket against HD outlining the
problem and indicate that you would like the HD desktop application to
show the bitmap icons from HDS as well. Assign that to me for now and
that way at the very least there's a note of the issue.

They are committed to the HVIF format and they probably wish all bitmap
icons would just go away and die..
