It just went down again as the host was restarted and my last attempt to
get the service to start automatically obviously didn't work. This
seems to have worked though...
/sbin/chkconfig haikudepotserver 235
...so hopefully next time it will be starting itself.
I am not sure how to disable a service (properly) because I would quite
like to stop "haikudepotserver-test" from starting automatically. I
looked at the instructions here [1], but using these commands seem to
yield the following error;
```
haikudepotserver-test.service is not a native service, redirecting to
/sbin/chkconfig.
Executing /sbin/chkconfig haikudepotserver-test off
Usage:
insserv [[-r] <script>]
Options:
--remove, -r
Remove the listed scripts from all runlevels
/sbin/insserv failed, exit code 1
```
Does anybody know how to properly prevent a System-V style service from
starting up on that host?

day or so owing to a disk failure and the HDS process did not come back
up on reboot so I manually restarted it. I've set the
"haikudepotserver" process to start automatically (strangely worked just
now, but did not work last night) so it should be covered the next time.
It seems that the test HDS has come online as well so I've shut that
down until somebody needs it to reduce the risk of exhausting the host's
memory.
I will get a sensible monitoring URL into the application server soon
and then see if we can get the monitoring system to probe it from time
to time.
