A space wide tab and a space is essentially the same; the space at this 
position doesn't help you at all, while the tab specifies the column, ie. if 
you change the "virtual" to a "static", the type column will still be correctly 
indented, while you would need to replace the space with a tab in the other 
case. Not that this is a typical use case, anyway, just as an explanation why a 
tab is actually cleaner IMO.
