Good news is that by the time US switch to metric system, the whole
Haiku will use the localized string_for_size() function, so moving to
a Ka/Ma/Ga will be then easy.
We're getting future proof ;-)

More seriously, string_for_size() could be enhanced to allow passing
min and max unit. Sometimes, like in ProcessController, one wants to
show all size using the same (range of) units (here K[i]B).
I didn't find the time to do that yet.
