Maybe :-)
I guess the best solution would be dependent on the available memory as 
well as on the typical frame size of the stream. Ie. some day we might 
use 4K HD and then 3 MB would probably be too small, too.

What exactly was the outcome, anyway? I think it should fall back to do 
no caching - if memory is low, it shouldn't try to increase the 
pressure with every way it can :-)
