That's just a foreshadowing element for session management - it really
makes no sense otherwise, although I'm not convinced about the position
thing either.

Yes we had this discussion already before: Saving the terminal position make no sense because there are usually multiple terminal instances. In this case new terminal would pop up at (felt) random positions. E.g. closing a terminal on a different workspace at a strange position, let pass some time so that you forget that you close that terminal, switch back to another workspace and open a new one...
