How does including them by default help anyone with the points you
mentioned?

It allows to check that the decorator API is still working. They were
not in the image for some time and they got very out of sync with other
parts of the code, so I had to spend time bringing them back to life
again. Since Clemens is doing changes to this API again, I'd rather
make sure things don't break again. And apparently the only way to make
sure is to make BOM slap the breakers :)

On the other side I don't want to fix all decorators, which have no real use, immediately when changing the decorator api. But I get your point and fixing the other decorators have always been on my TODO list, you guys were just faster :-)
