No it doesn't. Where did you get the idea? The settings should be changed for 
this one save-action only. Anything else is a bug.

Yes, that would be convenient indeed. Though I personally have never the need 
to mess with settings, I just use the defaults, and mostly no formats that 
require settings. Maybe JPEG sometimes.
