Well, the point of having those different directories is to actually make use of them :-) In short, if you backup up your settings, you don't want to include cache/data files. If you deinstall an application, you may want to keep its settings, but certainly not its cache/data files. The bash history is only a small file, but I would rather be consistent in the use of the system directories. Bye, Axel.
