Besides, it is bash-specific, so someone using another shell > should not use it. The ~/config/settings/Terminal was supposed to be a folder. In it you would find the Terminal_settings file as well as .bash_history, . profile etc. > Also, it's not a settings file, rather a cache of last commands. In order to not have everything spread out into several folders, I'm for a relaxed handling of such things. Sure, you could create a ~/config/data/ besides the ~/config/settings/, but why spread things out? > Still, while it's nice to try to sort out the Unix mess, I'd advise > against overdesigning, many scripts/apps assume some paths and really > don't like when stuff gets renamed. Well, you know what they say about scripts that "assume"... :) Anyway, I trust you guys do the right thing. From a user perspective I just wanted to stress how annoying the .dot mess can get. But you'll know that yourselves just as well, I guess... Regards, Humdinger -- --=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=-=--=- Deutsche Haiku News @ http://www.haiku-gazette.de
