Yep, they could at least be defined as optional packages (not for distributed images) to simplify testing for other devs.
Agreed. Someone capable of doing this with assistance of me? Where my part would be to pinpoint to the correct firmwares ;)
On the other hand, it seems that linux distros dont have any problem including those by default, my ubuntu's /lib/firmware contains everything it seems.
