Thanks for cleaning up behind me! Looks like our build process has
become more complex than I can understand -- time for some detailed
documentation, or do we have that yet somewhere? :-)

Out of curiosity, is there a reason the multi-arch thing doesn't work
automatically for static libraries, like they do for shared libraries?
I think it works if using "shared" instead of "libshared.a"?
At least that way seems to work for liblocalestub.a.

I originally tried with just "shared", but then libshared.a wouldn't
even be tried to link at all.
Would definitely be nice if that would work, though.

There's a magic place where that can be made to happen [1]. :-)
