I was thinking along the same lines. But isn't ffmpeg pure C, so
compiling it with GCC4 could be directly linked from the GCC2 media
add-on?

At different occasions I already wrote that gcc 2 and gcc 4 code shouldn't be mixed at all, even if it is C only, since the linkage and runtime loader behavior for the two is no longer the same for them.
