Well, right now it is confusing, wasted space in the menubar is not as big an issue, I suppose Preferences could go in the File menu. You can't easily add an icon to a menuitem, Deskbar uses a class from Tracker that displays menu items with icons from a folder to display Preferences. It is the same class used to implement the Move to... and Copy to... menus in Tracker.
