At the moment, checkstyle generates some false positives -- evaluating
comments as code.  IIRC, aldeck had some ideas on how to improve it.
After the release, I could give him a hand to implement it.

Another idea to toss in the air, would it be tolerable to agree on a
set of enforceable and non-enforceable coding style rules?
