Mac OS X has a "Utilities" folder where it puts more utility type apps under "Applications". I was thinking that might be a good idea to borrow. Utilities could be a subdirectory under Applications or it could be a new top-level directory. Some apps that might get categorized as Utilities (other than Colors!) might include: ActivityMonitor CharacterMap Devices DiskProbe DiskUsage DriveSetup Installer Magnify MediaConverter Screenshot Mac OS X also puts Terminal under Utilities, but, call me biased, I wouldn't do that. I think of Terminal as more than a "Utility". This reorganization would make more room for and quicker access to more "real" apps like DeskCalc, MediaPlayer, WebPositive, and of course, user-installed apps. I wouldn't like it if we were to go with the Windows/Linux style creating subdirectories for every category like Accessories, Office, Games, etc. So "Utilities" would be more the exception than the rule, kind of like "Demos" is now.
