Hi, back from having discussed this stuff personally with Jon. I hope I didn't misunderstand something, but Jon sounds like he's against having the "Files" list directly in the installer, so it looks like we'll need a simple PackageInspector (might be part of the PackageBuilder if you wanted to make one). Thanks Jon! :) Bye, Waldemar Kornewald ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: DarkWyrm <darkwyrm@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Apr 16, 2007 12:51 AM Subject: Re: [openbeos-cdt] Re: .pkg installer user interface To: Waldemar Kornewald <wkornewald@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
What's so difficult about right-clicking a package and using "Open With->PackageInspector"? You sound like this would be a catastrophe. I just think that you're misinterpreting how unimportant this feature actually is (and how few people will use it) because you personally like it so much. I'm sure that you'd normally come with arguments like "less than 10% of all users need this feature, at all".
True enough. Still a pain in the neck if you asked me, but true enough. :) That problem with being into details -- sometimes you miss the forest for the trees, so to speak. You win.
Also, it would be the only function that would be too complicated for many computer newbies. It would basically "show the inner workings of the fridge" although "the fridge is just a tool".
'Too complicated' is debatable, but I will agree to disagree on this point. --Jon
