#9018: Do not set VM automatically ---------------------------------------+------------------------- Reporter: dsjonny | Owner: axeld Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: Preferences/VirtualMemory | Version: R1/alpha3 Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | Has a Patch: 0 Platform: All | ---------------------------------------+------------------------- If I write the alpha4 image to an USB drive, and I start Haiku from it, than in the VM preflet I saw the virtual memory is enabled, the size is automatically detected and about 2MB virtual meory has been created on the boot drive. There is no much more free space on the boot drive to crerate a bigger VM file. This small file is always "full". I have 8GB of physical RAM. I think the VM is not neccessary, so I suggest if there is about more than 2-4GB RAM in the PC, than the VM disable by default. If the memory is not enught, than the system may popup an alert for the user to enable the VM, or enable it automatically. -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/9018> Haiku <http://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
