 Is that the last entry for the thread or just for the team? Given that
 short-circuiting the syscalls suggests that the corruption happens in one
 of them. So it would help to find out which one. I consider it more likely
 that it corrupts the stack of its own thread. Once it is clear which one I
 would add stack sanity asserts to narrow it down to the point where the
 bad things happen.
