CharacterMap can be used to examine a font, or you use the Fonts prefs or
FontDemo to see it actually displaying a specific text. I'm not sure what
you mean with a translator for fonts. I imagine something that let's me
open a font in a text editor like StyledEdit which would show examples of
the font in various sizes, styles and colours. This would be kinda cool
and unexpected use of a translator... :)
