 If the problem is:

mmap/munmap/mmap, no luck. Even though munmap apparently succeeds, mmap
 with the same parameters will still fail in the same way.

 Then this sounds like a kernel bug. Can you write a test app that exhibits
 the problem? Then we can try to trace inside the kernel as to what is
 going wrong.
