By keeping <Shift> pressed during early boot, you may be able to enter
the Haiku Boot Loader menu -> Select safe mode options -> Use fail-safe
 graphics driver (VESA).
I tried holding shift just after selecting to boot the image from my UEFI,
pressing shift before selecting the image, and holding both left and right
shift both before and after the UEFI screen and nothing seems to happen,
it attempts to boot as usual. The caps-lock key on my keyboard lights up
when pressed if that means anything.
