The implementation I linked above is the one for the kernelland_emu
(whoops.) The real one had what looked like a disturbing amount of
spinlock contention. Following hrev53336, that should be fixed (though
there was a bug in it that I fixed in hrev53337.) So if you can test after
that hrev, it will be very interesting to see if this is improved at all.
