That means I have to do an "Export" first, right? Which also means that
 we shouldn't make that Export to automatically push into the repo.

 AFAICT, Export doesn't push to the repo, and it never did do that. I think
 there was a cronjob which was supposed to do that. So you can export
 whenever and however often you want.
