Solving the actual issue should indeed be trivial. However, there are a
number of additional tasks that one could pursue:
* We use an ancient copy of FreeBSD's Luke FTP (from 2005). We could
update it to a recent version; that might even fix the issue already.
* If that update doesn't fix it, one could try to upstream the changes
that do.
* We could outsource the FTP application to haikuports. There is no real
need to keep it in the tree.
So if you have a bit of time on your hands, and want to get in touch with
some more parts of Haiku... :-)
