You misunderstand how it's used: it will only be shown if the translator
supports reporting progress. So far, the only translator that does this is
the RAW translator.
However, I agree that an integrated progress bar (that only shows a barber
pole as in Tracker if the translator does not support the functionality)
makes more sense, and is even nicer, too.
