Just to add, it does appear on Desktop when the mountpoint directory is
created at root, "/".[[BR]]
Verified here.
Here however, I either see no icon or a distorted pixel mess.
The resulting icon on the Desktop looks fine on my system.

Further notes, though. I gave the mountpoint in home a different name
from that of the remote directory, and when I mount it, the mountpoint's
name (correctly) gets changed to match. However if a Tracker window is
open on home when I do the mount, the folder name in the window does not
change. Conversely, if I open the window ''after'' the mount, I see the
correct name, but if I then unmount, the folder completely disappears from
the window! (Neither the mountpoint nor the mounted name shows.)
