#11060: Add new keyboard navigation combos to Web+ ----------------------------------------+---------------------------- Reporter: DaaT | Owner: pulkomandy Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: Applications/WebPositive | Version: R1/Development Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: Has a Patch: 0 | Platform: All ----------------------------------------+---------------------------- Comment (by jscipione): Cmd+[1-9] make it very easy to switch directly to the tab you want, with Cmd+[PgUp|PgDn] you'd have to click the button potentially many times to get to the desired tab. Either way is imperfect, the fallback is of course to click the tab you want with the mouse and is what most people are going to do anyway. As far as use of shortcuts elsewhere we use Cmd+Ctrl+Cursor to switch workspaces because Cmd is reserved for application use, same with using Opt+cursor for S&T. In WebPositive Cmd+[left|right] is used to navigate back and forwards in history. There was some discussion about changing that to Ctrl+[left|right] but unfortunately all application shortcuts in Haiku must include the Cmd key so that is not an option. Cmd+[PgUp|PgDn] could be used for switching between the next and previous tab, but I wouldn't expect the feature to be used much since the user is unlikely to think of that on their own. We've created a bit of a mess for ourselves here already so we should tread carefully. Is Cmd+[PgUp|PgDn] a good set of shortcuts to use? I'd say no, but the good alternatives are already taken. If you really want to solve the problem, that is the problem that must be solved, this seems like it is just another band-aid on top. -- Ticket URL: <https://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/11060#comment:3> Haiku <https://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
