 Intel Core i7-860 16 GB RAM: So far I've only seen two crashes that might
 be related, and only after quite some time and memory turnover. So the
 issue may not be machine specific but it's obviously a lot easier to
 reproduce on some machines.

 It looks like a race condition on multi-CPU hardware. It would be
 interesting to see whether Pawel's scheduler branch fixes it. He has
 changed quite a bit of low-level locking.
