Hi everyone,

Here is a link to a great site that has a good calculator for making
your own shorted dipoles:
http://www.k7mem.150m.com/Electronic_Notebook/antennas/shortant.html

The author explains all the parameters very well and its a well written tool.

There are also calculators for VHF/UHF yagis (for antenna or EME
work), designing air core inductors (useful for home brew and for the
above shortened antennas), and building plate capacitors (for making
the capacitor used in "magnetic" loop antennas).
