heya,

Was going to bring this up at the meeting but I was stuck at work...

Ben/Birdbrain is going to do some trial PCB runs. I was thinking of getting a few sets of reprap gen6 (very professional) or gen7 (faster stepper but ugly) boards cut and was wondering if anyone else would be interested in enough boards to make their own Prusa (or US Prusa).

I could be convinced to do an order for MakerBot/ThingOMatic boards if someone is willing to help me run the electric skillet for a group SMD session....

We're going to do a trial run of a PCB Service this week. For those familiar with the concept, we take all of your orders, panelize them and send them off to a fabrication house in China who then makes us the big panel. The panel gets shipped back to the US where we separate the boards and do any internal routing necessary. You can then pick up your board at one of our scheduled locations (Fridays at HackPgh, Saturdays at Assemble).

Here's the specs:

2 layer boards - 0.062" FR4 material

2 Layer limits:
8mil spacing minimum
8mil traces minimum
15mil minimum drill size
500mil maximum drill size

No v-scoring, only drill files are sent to the fab house

Internal routes are OK -- 1/8" bit diameter on this panel. Rectangular boards only this time. We'll work on more interesting shapes and smaller internal routes later.

Green soldermask top & bottom, Silkscreen top only.

1oz Copper

No limit on the number of vias, pads or components.

Boards are billed at $2.50 a square inch, no setup fee, you get one copy. 1 square inch is the minimum billing, but we'll charge on the exact size (rounded up to the next penny).

The gerber files we need are:
.BOR - Board Outline
.GBL - Bottom Copper
.GBS - Bottom Soldermask
.GTL - Top Copper
.GTO - Top Silkscreen
.GTS - Top Soldermask
.DRD - Excellon Drill File

All others will be discarded.

If you use Eagle, you can grab this cam file: http://birdbrainlabs.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a3697f0eec54ac61d4c3007e1&id=e7a72b07be&e=8030b957c2 and that will get you all of this.

Zip up your gerber and e-mail it to pcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx . Panel 0 will close when it's full or at 11:59pm on Thursday September 8th. We should have the boards back and depanelized on the 23rd. (Worst case, we'll have them on the 26th, and I'll have some way to pick them up)

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Ben
