I wonder if anyone ever refinishes floors in shellac? That's made up of
ground up shellac bugs. I think one big problem with shellac is that it
gets cloudy when it gets wet (maybe why it's a problem with old furniture
in the summer when you put a cold mint julep on the air of a chair and it
sweats, leaving a ring). Another non-toxic option, if you don't need a
clear finish, would be milk paint. That might be really nice for some
floors.
