Indeed. The Canadians are using a digital system similar to or perhaps identical to the European system, operating at frequencies in the hundreds of MegaHertz, I think. In the U.S., all we have is "High Definition" Radio where digital information is encoded on the same frequencies as the analog transmissions. The two systems aren't compatible. We won't be able to broadcast back and forth across the border if these two digital systems ever become the "law of the land", but they don't seem to be catching on in a big way yet.
