It is simply a small piece of electronics, which acts just
  like a disk drive.

It may plug into an available USB port, or have a dedicated
slot, depending on make and type.

Very convenient for moving large files about. They come in
various sizes from a few Megabytes to around and even over a
  Gigabyte.

  Hello,

Just what is a memory stick and how does one use it? What
are its advantages and disadvantages and how accessible are
  they?

Thank you for answering what I suppose is a very novice
  question.
