George,

You are correct. I did mis the c. the file is helpctr.exe
Here is the error message that results from pressing the windows key
followed by h:
helpctr.exe
Windows cannot find 'helpctr.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly,
and then try graphic 580 again. To search for a file, click the Start
button,
and then click Search.
OK
I found the file and google says it can be related to spyware in that some
spy wae removes it or alters the file name. I'm looking at how to fix it
now but I think just putting it back where it belongs will do.

Hi David,

Are you sure about that file name?

I've Googled for it, and come up with absolutely flat zero.
It's not a file that's on my own XP Pro system either.

George.

Hi,

Running windows xp pro sp2, pressing the windows key and
then h tells me that windows cannot find helptr.exe. A
search of my system reveals that this file in fact does not
exist on my system. It seems to me that This has happened
to me at least twice now. I believe that I had it back
after it was gone after upgrading to sp2. Any clues to
solving this mystery would be welcome. I'm thinking it
might have something to do with ad-aware.
