Hi Otis --
I think I can help on this one.
When you say you have 3 accounts, do you actually have three completely
separate identities defined that you need to switch to and so not share any
data with the other two identities?
If so you might consider creating a new super identity holding the info for
all 3 accounts -- you actually can do this in OE. All you need to do is
create the new identity called "Main Identity" or "SuperMail" or whatever,
and then define all the options you want. Then you need to go to each of
the other 3 little identities and export the accounts for that identity --
that is done on the accounts option in the tools menu. Under accounts there
is an import and export option. It will export to and import from a file
that you have in your documents folder or wherever you want to put it.
Now when all these account data files have been exported for the 3 little
identities, go back to the new super identity and import them all.
You will then have to pick a default account -- the one that will be used to
handle all outgoing mail.
This is important as sometimes if you are traveling, you can't use an smtp
(sendmail transfer protocol) server for an ISP in a different state.
However, if you have a general account with yahoo or hotmail you can always
set that as the default and that should handle all your sendmail needs.

Ok, now you have a bunch of accounts defined. You should go back to the
accounts dialog and go to properties under the mail tab and hit space. You
will be on the general page of the properties dialog. tab till you get to a
checkbox that says something like "include this account when checking for
mail or synchronizing". This box should be checked. Hit ok, then tab to
close and hit enter.

Now comes the arduous process of exporting and importing message boxes.
I'll leave it to you to poke around and figure that one out.

A note:
I have not said anything about the address book. I have not figured out how
to globally export mbox contacts to the shared contacts shared by all
identities. If you find out how, please point me to it. Now it is
necessary to just walk through and manually copy and paste while each
account is open.

Also, there is a caveat with defining multiple accounts in the same
identity -- sometimes people will send mail to an account that is not the
default. You go to reply but for some reason OE fails because OE will try
replying in a way that trips up the server.
I have run into this a number of times and I apologize I should know more
details but I am in a hurry typing this so will leave it at that. There is
nothing devastating about running into problems with multipe accounts -- if
OE fails to send the message, you can do one of 2 things:
1: go to accounts and temporarily change the default account, or
2: go to your outbox where all the messages are and open each message that
is trying to reply to a non-default smtp server, and switch it to your
default. You do this by shift+tabbing until you get to where it lists the
account you are using and you just arrow up or down to get to the default
one.
No biggy at all. It just happens once in a while but is recoverable.

Anyway, take care and good luck.

Subject: [guispeak] accounts in outlook express

Hi,

I have about 3 emial accounts in outlook express and I want to know
if there's a way I can check mail for all 3 accounts at the same
time. For example. When mail comes for account 1 it will
automaticlly download and the same with 2 and 3. I don't want to
have to go to each account and download each one separately. I want
them to download meail any time new mail comes in. If there's a way
this can be done, please let me know. I'm using window-eyes 5.5 beta 1
