Here is a good example as to why I use pgp.  I got this message earlier
today.

Hi There. Unfortunately: I believe you have a virus on your  computer. I 
have recieved one message from you with the file price.com as an attachment. 
I downloaded it and then when I rebooted my computer, I found that my 
outlook express folder was currpted. I couldn't access my e mail. I did a 
disk scan and fixed my e mail program. I then reinstalled agv anti virus and 
fixed this problem. Now the virus is gone. Please reply, sincerely Max.
