George: Character Map causes difficulties with JAWS. (I get an error
after I open it! Something like, "chamap has caused an error in ...").
Then there's a Font Settings... button and a Closebutton on the other
  two tabs in the control.

If you want to know what characters require what Alt + key
combination, take a look at Programs, Accessories, System
  Tools, Character Map.

  George.

I believe the umlauted o is written o followed by
"a" and not "e" though I prefer to write it in the correct
way. I'll search for the key combinations for all umlauted
  letters.
  Thanks
  Khalid

  Umlauts

the non-techy way to do an umlaut is to
follow the umlauted letter with an
  e. Thus u-umlaut instead of being u with
dots over it would be ue--that is
u followed by e. It isn't correct, of
  course, but better than nothing???
