Version 1.5
Released January 15, 2007

Fixed comparison of file or folder names sometimes being case sensitive.
Fixed Windows prompting whether it is safe to open a file with FileDir
when that prompt does not occur with Windows Explorer. Reviewed all menu
text and made changes to ensure display of appropriate hot keys and of
ellippses ( ...) indicating that a command presents a dialog. Fixed the
last Zip target not being remembered at the start of the nextFileDir

The new Control+Z command zips files like Shift+Z, but then deletes
originals after confirming the integrity of the zip target. Introduced a
speech-friendly dialog that is triggered when a .NET runtime error occurs
unexpectedly. You are given the choice of exiting or continuing FileDir.

Added the Web Download command, Alt+Shift+W, which lets you download files
from a public web site. FileDir prompts for a URL and inserts the
http://prefix if no protocol is specified. After running an external
utility to extract links from the web page, FileDir presents them in a
multiple selection ListBox for downloading to the current directory. If
the URL of a link does not end in a valid file name, FileDir creates a
file name for the target on disk based on other characters in the URL.

Made the Refresh command, Period or F5, remember the focused item and
currently tagged items. Added the Control+S command to save tags in the
current directory view, and Control+Shift+S to restore them. This could
be useful if you need to temporarily change which items are tagged.

Updating FileDir is now more convenient. Use the Elevate Version command,
F11, to download and install the latest version. You are prompted for
confirmation. The installer is downloaded to the folder for temporary
Internet files so it will be deleted automatically when Windows reclaims
space in that folder. The current FileDir version is then unloaded so
that the installer can replace any files that were in use. You can reload
the updated version in the usual manner after installation, e.g., by
pressing Alt+Control+F.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!
