Thank you for the news about the belarc advisor. I downloaded the program
and I find it works well with jaws 6.1.
The only thing I found out that it does not report correctally is it tells
me that I have not done a virus scan since December 2004. I do a manual scan
check at least once a weekotherwise it is a great utility program

I am writing to let you know about a fabulous little shareware program that I have recently discovered. It is called the Belarc Advisor. I read about it in one of Kim Komando's newsletters, and downloaded it from her site, www.komando.com. Once the program is installed, it will analyze your system, and give you an easy to read, web page style analysis of your system. it will list all of the hardware and software components of your system. It will give you detailed info about each component and program, including serial and license numbers. it seemed to detect everything except for my speakers and mic. It will even list any Internet or network connections that you have, and will even give you all IP addresses, DNS addresses, even physical addresses. It will even let you know if your security programs, such as antivirus, firewall, spyware detection, etc. are up to date, and the date of your current definitions. It will also let you know what updates, hot fixes, etc., that you are lacking. i can think of several situations where this program would be a must. one would be if you were trying to get tech support, and you were asked how much RAM you had, which brand of DVD burner you had, etc. It will tell you how much RAM you have, how fast the bus is, what your processor type and speed are, and on and on. i would think it would be invaluable for those who service other people's computers. Best of all, it is totally accessible with screen readers. i can't give you an exact URL, but it is pretty easy to find on Kim's site. Try it, I think that you will be pleased. Just as an aside, I installed it on my computer at work, and didn't read the license agreement carefully, and only later read the part that said not to run it on government or corporate networks. I can see why. it tells you everything about the network, including all that stuff that your sys admin wouldn't want you to know.
