They only put weight on if you give too many. I was told once or twice a week is OK, but Wren just uses hers as a toy till she feels like eating it so I dont give them often.

Hi everyone I did give my first guide dog raw hydes but I have been told by
different people that they can put weight on the dogs and to much can hurt
the dogs. So I haven't given my last three dogs them.

I do use other bones. I make sure that they are strong and that they can
not eat them up in a short time. From Louise and Hawk

i've never heard anything bad about raw hydes before. we r told they r fine
just not to give them too offten. it's rare i give callie a raw hyde but
when i do she's fine with it. i know lots of guide dog owners who give them
to their dogs.

I do not give my dogs raw hide bones. I have heard that if your dog eats
them to fast that they can get caught in their insides.
