Subject: [guidedogchat] lose dogs

hi all
not sure if many u encounter this problem in other countries but it is a problem here in ireland well at least where i am anyway. i am just wondering what u should do if u meet a dog that's not on a lead and not with an owner. i was out with callie a couple of weeks ago and my 10 year old daughter, when this husky came running across the road. it was friendly and wanted to play. i tried to ignore it and walk on but it kept jumping around in front of us so it was impossible to keep walking. i tried to shoo it away but it wouldn't go and my daughter wanted to try but i told her not to just in case it turned agressive or something. it finally gave up and just ran off but it just got me thinking what r u supposed to do in those type of situations? i've also had small dogs run out of drive ways and bark and snap at callie which can b scary for her and me. so i'm just looking for a bit of advice really if anyone else has ever been those sort of situations. thanks :)
