Or stinging nettles!!  The one I have for my pet Poodle is like tape, the stuff 
tape measures are made of, or more accurately, like a cross between that and a 
nylon leash, but much narrower than that.  It’s very strong I think and I don’t 
think it can knot as easily as the string type, which I have had in the past.

Pam, didn't know there was a tape one, and the one I've got is basically a long 
string on a sort of fishing reel. Luckily, it's very good at tucking itself 
back in when it's not fully stretched. Only thing to watch is don't get it 
caught in the undergrowth! You could spend all day untangling it from thistles!
