Mel, yes, my dog must have had a previous life as a ceiling fan. I know where
he is by the cold blast!

Well I can think of worse, but it would be pretty painful and rather draughty
too!!

Being beaten to death by the tail of a puppyish Labrador Retriever would be a
terrible way to go, wouldn't it?

Lol! Perhaps people ought to change subject lines more often? That way we
would avoid this death by dog!

Nobody is introducing or being introduced. I keep reading this thread just
in case a new member sends a post. How disappointing. If this does not stop,
I will do one of two things: 1. I will position Purdue, my Yellow Lab guide,
directly north of your location, facing north. I will just stand there and
watch him beat you to death with his hyperactive tail! (ornery grin). Or, 2:
I will fill your pockets with dry dog food and turn Purdue loose. No harness,
no leash. (another, even ornerier, grin)

Julia, Michelle was a wonderful guide, the best of all. she was what
they call a “black jewel”. Her coat was beautiful. Her personality was, leave
me alone with my master. that is about it. I met another dog later on, a
male, and he had the same attitude. Love them.

        Julia,

They have been used here for guiding work in the past. They can be a
bit nervous though possibly why not many have made it through. The police use
them quite a lot for police work.

Belgian Shepherds are beautiful, there are 4 types of them but cant
remember how they are all spelt now, they were bred more to guard the sheep
than herd them, but lovely dogs, they arent used as guides here though no idea
why.

yes, I sure remember him. My first instructor died not long ago,
about 5 years. His name escapes me now. I will think of it later, of course.
This was with my very first dog, Michelle, she was a Belgium sheepdog. She
looked like a collie, but was col black, even shined blue, some said. she was
beautiful and a very hard worker. I have seen only one other Belgium sheepdog
like her, and the male dog had escaped from someone and came to this home and
adopted this woman. He was magnificent. He had the same traits as my dog,
but much, much larger. They are a one person dog, very loyal, completely
dedicated. People were more afraid of her than any of my German Shepard's, I
think because she had very white teeth, and pink gums, and when she worked she
smiled, she looked very scarey.

Hi Cathy, I have always gone to the Seeing eye, and most of my dogs
were German shepards, one Belgium sheepdog, two black labs. I have using dogs
since 1977.

The vishla is a very short hair dog like the Doberman and boxer. I
think the long hair dogs are prettier, but this boxer is not much to keep
groomed. The Vishla is a red dog and long eared. I believe they are bird
dogs. The poodle need to be clipped. I love the boxer, wasn't sure when I was
handed the leash that I would like him, but I really love him a lot. My labs
and goldens were wonderful dogs too. I would love to have a vishla the next
time I go back. I believe that I will work dog guides until I am not able too.
You are not to old to get another. I have been in class with older people
than you. Pilot will issue out dogs as long as your doctor will give you the
go ahead. I am 56 and have been working dogs for 35 years. What school did
you get your dogs, I forgot, grin.
