the floods in york have reached their peak
approximately 14 feet above normal
this is the third highest that the river has been
in 2001 the river reached 16 feet above normal
it was about two or 3 inches off breaching the flood barrier
I think that the previous highest was in 1947
When in that winter they had record amounts of snowfall
and then a rapid thaw
most of the city was flooded
because they had no flood barrier
