Top Ten Albums From the 70s

These albums were released during the 1970s - a decade which saw the
coming in of new Rock and Roll artists, phenomenal breakthroughs in the world
of art and culture, the whole hippie era, and the improvement of those who
changed the music scene during the 60s.
      1. Sticky Fingers

This album was released by The Rolling Stones who made a mark for
themselves in the industry during the latter half of the 1960s. When one
listens to Sticky Fingers, it becomes easy to understand why this band is
considered to be legendary. The music is both beautiful and edgy at the same
time.
      2. Imagine

Released by John Lennon, this album consists of such songs that went on
to become extremely popular as well as those which remained underappreciated.
Till date it is possible to find the anger in "How Do You Sleep?" and the
heartbreak in "Jealous Guy".
      3. L.A.Woman

This album was The Door's last with the legendary Jim Morrison and is
considered to hold the best collection of their songs since their first album.
It features songs like "Love Her Madly" and "Riders on the Storm". Jim Morrison
died within a short period of time after the album's release and the band was
never the same again.
      4. After the Gold Rush

Neil Young released this album after his first two albums topped the
charts. After The Gold Rush includes some of his best work with songs like
"Only Love Can Break Your Heart", "Southern Man" and "After The Gold Rush".
      5. The Wall

Roger Waters managed Pink Floyd when The Wall was released and while it
is apparent that the rest of the band members wanted to get rid of him, one
cannot ignore the fact that the man made amazing music. Since he wrote almost
all the songs, it should have been his solo album but obviously, it wasn't. The
album contains songs like "Hey You" and "Comfortably Numb".

      6. Raw Power

This album is basically the brainchild of Iggy And The Stooges. It is
extremely powerful and the sound is nothing if not unique. While Led Zepplin
was delving into metal, The Who were playing with different melodies and these
guys were creating rock music like nobody else dared to. Even though the
production was a little over the top, it did not matter because the album was
remarkable and stunning.
      7. Hunky Dory

This album was released by David Bowie and is definitely the best after
Ziggy Stardust. His music changes a bit in this album and he experiments with a
new folk style. Hunky Dory brought Bowie into the limelight and allowed the
world to see just how weird he really was.
      8. Hotel California

Jeo Walsh became a more prominent part of the Eagles during the recording
of the album. The result was that the music was less country-rock and more
hardcore rock. This is definitely the band's best album and features hits like
"Life In the Fast Lane", "Hotel California" and The New Kids in Town".
      9. Born to Run

During the mid 1970s, Springsteen was sure that he was about to burn out
and decided that he would quit the music career if his next album did not do
well. Therefore, he put in all he had into this album and surprisingly, ended
up creating beautiful songs like "Backstreets", "Thunder Road" and "Jungleland".
      10. The Dark Side of the Moon

This album was massively successful and spent more than 730 weeks on the
Billboard charts. Songs like "Money" and Time" were created by the band for
this album with the help of which they further established the fact that they
were the best of the best.
