Jamie Oliver's Beef, Beer And Vegetable Pie As seen on Jamie At Home Ingredients: 360 G frying beef or brisket of beef, cut into pieces 2 carrots, peeled and chopped 4 field mushrooms, washed and chopped 3 onions, peeled and chopped a packet of ready made puff pastry an egg, beaten 1 pint of beer or Guinness 2 celery sticks, chopped gravy 200 G grated cheddar cheese salt and pepper olive oil Method: Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Centigrade/375 degrees Fahrenheit/gas mark 5. Fry the onion for 5 minutes in olive oil until it is soft. Add the vegetables and meat, cook for 10 minutes. Add half of the beer or Guinness. Put the lid on the pan and cook for an hour. Add the other half of the beer or Guinness and cook for another hour. Add gravy if you want. Take the pan off the heat and stir in some of the cheese. Divide the puff pastry by putting a third of the pastry aside for the lid. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Grease a pie dish. Line a pie dish with the largest piece of pastry. Put the beef and vegetable mix into the base of the pastry in the dish. Scatter the grated cheese on top. Put the lid on top of the pie. Egg wash the top and cut small slits on the top to release the steam during cooking. Cook in the oven for 45 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed up. Serve with peas or jacket potatoes.
