Hi Phillis,
Congratulations on the new baby. You must be feeling very proud and happy just
now.Is this you first grandchild? Hopr you enjoy your trip to buy new baby
cardigans. Puts me in mind of when my first grandchild was born in June 1970! I
was pruning a white rose tree in the garden when I receive the news.
Unfortunately my daughter lived 200 miles away so it was a few weeks before I
saw them. However I immediately downed tools and dashed out to buy my first
present. This was called in those days an "angel top", a short top with frilly
knickers to show underneath. She wore this on the day my gaughter brought her
home. Mothers stayed in hospital a bit longer in those days than they do now. I
think they send them home much too early. When I had my first baby I was not
allowed out of bed for twelve days. Times have changed, but I think what happens
now is more rediculous. Having to cope with a baby, even with the help of a
husband, is too much for a mother so soon after giving birth. However if you do
not live too far away at least they will have you to lend a hand from time to
time. My youngest great-geandchild, who lives nt too far awyy, will be one year
old next week. She is adorable but a bit of a handful now she is crawling and
attempting to stand up and walk. Love and Best Wishes from Elizabeth.

Subject: [guide.chat] hi all,

it is very quiet here this morning, no visitor to take a cuppa into, so have
just cleaned out my budgies, my brother came yesterday for his, last night went
to Becca's and Mel's flat and had a cuddle with Noah, just adorable, a good mop
of dark hair, brown eyes and very alert for a two day old baby, likes to know
what is going on, but apparently hates not having any clothes on, am going into
town today with Victoria and we are going to get him some little cardigans,
chat soon
